Les élèves de terminale ont visité, cette année, les locaux de l’ONU à New York. Ils ont découvert que 2011 était l’année de la forêt. Tout naturellement, nous avons alors travaillé sur ce sujet avec notre professeur d’anglais.
* The United Nation General Assembly declared 2011 the International Year of Forest to raise awareness on issues of management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests.
* Forests for people is the chosen theme of the year to highlight the dynamic relationships between forests and people who depend on them.
* The rate of deforestation shows signs of decreasing, but it’s still alarmingly high.
* Today, forests are vital for the survival and the well being of people everywhere, all 7 billion of us
* 3 global objectives to be achieved by 2015:
– Reverse the loss of forest cover worldwide through sustainable forest management
– Enhance forest-based economic, social and environmental benefits
– Increase significantly the area of protected forests worldwid
* When: The official launch ceremony of the year was on 2nd February 2011.
* Where: At the regional, national and local level, lots of different activities are organized and planned all over the world.
* Goals: To highlight the key role of forest in our lives.
* Events: The international forest film festival, forest trailer, art, video and photo competitions, forest heroes’ awards.
*The history of human existence and civilization is intertwined with forest and trees.
